If you're a SimCity player, but
just can't seem to dig yourself out of a financial pit,
or maybe just want to find out the best way of zoning,
then my Tips are a great place to look for aid. DJ's Tips
- Don't ever
try to use a grid street formation over hilly
terrain - it wastes a lot of flat land and money.
- Subways are
great for built-up areas because they require
only one tile per stop and all tracks run
underground, but they cost loads so just use them
in dense commercial areas.
- A railway
round the edge of the city with branches running
inwards makes a really effective mass transit
system.
- Zone hilly
and watery areas residential - land values will
rise because Sims find these areas scenic and
pretty.
- The City
Hall and Courthouse raise aura and land value, so
put them in your Commercial area to help it
develop.
- Police and
Fire Stations are effective if placed in a grid
formation.
- Don't take
out hundreds of loans - just take one or two big
ones. It's better to pay off that way.
- Start new
cities near one edge of the terrain so it's
cheaper to link roads, power and pipes to
neighbours.
- Leave the
startup tips on - I learnt a lot!
- Press
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+C in any game and type broccoli,
then press return and watch the news ticker.
- No matter
how pretty it looks, don't put your Mayoral
Mansion in a wide open space, because you'll have
to ruin the effect by putting power lines to it,
or zoning up to it - or face a flashing
thunderbolt!
